The versatile singers Mathilde Santing is not ashamed of her age. And there is no reason to, because it seems as if she is only getting better in her own skin with age. After having short and platinum blonde hair for decades, Santing suddenly wore dark brown colored hair on the cover of Under Your Charms. And at age-referring Forty Nine, she surprises again with a long-haired curly hairstyle and a
… 'baroque classic' styling. Her special tanned voice and musical interpretation, however, have unmistakably remained the same. With her backing band The Spirit Of Volunteering, the singer performs songs by interesting contemporary singer / songwriters such as John Mayer, Amos Lee, Rufus Wrainwright and KT Tunstall. But she also sings classics from old hands like Stevie Wonder and Rod Stewart. For all covers, the great vocalist knows how to internalize them in such a way that she leaves her own mark on them. Forty Nine offers atmospheric narrative music with the occasional heavier number. (SvdP)more
