Colin Blunstone has one of the most beautiful voices in pop music. With his hoarse timbre he managed to sing hits from The Zombies (She's Not There, Time Of The Season) and Alan Parsons Project (Old & Wise) to great heights. As a non-instrumentalist, his solo career was highly dependent on his collaborators, which led to highly changeable albums and some minor hits (I Don't Believe In Miracles,
… Say You Don't Mind). In the late nineties Blunstone was tempted into a lucrative reunion with fellow Zombie Rod Argent, which surprisingly resulted in two albums with new material. His first solo album since Echo Bridge (1995) got off to a false start with some well-produced covers. When the string arrangements prevail in Blunstone's self-written compositions, music is still created that does justice to the beauty of his voice. (MS)more
