In the months after his death, Michael Jackson posthumously stormed the charts worldwide. Among other things, with this attractively priced and very complete box, in which Jackson's last five solo albums have been collected. His solo career took off with the excellent Off The Wall (1979), on which he, together with producer Quincy Jones, gives the disco funk of The Jacksons some more finesse. The
… ambitious successor Thriller (1982) contains nothing but top hits and lays the foundation for Michael's superstar status in the 1980s and beyond. Bad (1987) is also packed with catchy hits, but has stood the test of time slightly less well due to the sterile production. Although it contains a few single hits, the minimal dance beats of Dangerous (1991), made without Jones, should mainly mask the lack of memorable songs. It is not without reason that Invincible takes ten years to appear: an over-produced, little-loved record in Jackson's oeuvre. With The Collection, the fan acquires five complete solo albums, but most likely the first three will be released regularly. (MS)more
