Singer Jason Desrouleaux has already done a lot musically for his official debut album. He has written for acts such as Diddy, Sean Kingston, Cassie and Lil 'Mama. The 20-year-old Derülo may have a solid background and did all kinds of music training in his youth, but we don't hear much of that knowledge on his eponymous record. … JR Rotem, is mainly a repetition of what R&B has been made of in recent years. Autotune has also been used shamelessly. What is great is that Derülo knows when something is hit sensitive. Every track on this album has that potential. In terms of vocals, however, he differs too little from Ne-Yo and Omarion to really impress. Precisely because Autotune tries to conceal so much it becomes painfully clear that Jason Derülo has little or no personality. (GL)more
