As Disney character Hannah Montana and daughter of country star Billy Ray Cyrus, it was only natural that Miley Cyrus was given a neat image at the start of her singing career (2007). After a few incidents here and there, this was no longer possible and the other extreme was chosen. The cover of her third album therefore features a leather-clad and sultry looking Miley. It is not really unexpected,
… because her predecessors Hilary Duff and Lindsay Lohan previously underwent the same metamorphosis from just a TV star to a dellig singer. And so everything is mapped out and mapped out for Cyrus. The girl rock of previous albums, cleverly copied from Avril Lavigne at the time, has had to make way for weak copies of the dance pop of Kesha, for example. Thus, Cyrus faithfully follows the trends, without doing this in a credible or convincing way. The teenager has stated that she will focus more on her film career after this album. After listening to Can't Be Tamed, her fans will probably do this too. (JE)more
