Greece's most famous composer is indestructible. After a long life in music and politics, 85 (!) - year old Theodorakis treats his audience to this unusual album. On Timeless he works with Francesco Diaz, a house DJ who could have been his grandson. The twelve songs on Timeless take the melodies of Theodorakis as a starting point and are enhanced with electronic beats and beats. Sometimes it works
… out well, such as in Beautiful City in which the sultry voice of singer Kalliopi Vetta may also shine. The subsequent New Days, however, sounds like clichéd Ibiza house. Lovers of Theodorakis' older pieces should approach this album with some reservations, but the guts that Theodorakis shows in his old age with this electronic album is admirable. (PdK)more
