Calling All Hearts is the fourth album by singer Keyshia Cole. The big difference with her previous record Just Like You (2008) is that she has had a delivery. A very dramatic event and enough renewed inspiration to fill an entire record, one would say. However, the inspiration we hear is not new and it does not have to be a problem. Vocally Cole is still strong and the comparison they often make
… with Mary J. Blige turns out to be justified. The big difference with other R&B records is that no electro or house productions are used, which seems like a mandatory crossover in the present time. Keyshia Cole remains true to herself and the genre and according to her fans, that will be the strength of Calling All Hearts. Professionally, however, it can be seen as a weakness. No risk is taken on this album and that makes it just less exciting. (GL)more
