The important place that the group Brainbox occupies in the canon of Dutch pop music is actually based on a handful of singles. That was in 1969 with songs like Down Man and Black Rose, when singer Kaz Lux was still backed by guitarist Jan Akkerman. But the latter left for Focus that same year, followed by drummer Pierre van der Linden. Akkerman's successor Rudy de Queljoe remained loyal to Lux,
… also at regular reunions and now plays on this first Brainbox album since the early seventies. The most important characteristic of the group is still the lived voice of Lux that has not lost any of its strength on The 3rd Flood. A voice full of soul and blues, the flavor of a collection of classic rock songs with forays into country and blues rock.
