The British company Keane conquered the world in 2004 with Hopes And Fears, an album full of piano songs. Most of those songs grew into radio hits. On the two albums that followed (Under The Iron Sea and Perfect Symmetry) there were experiments with synthesizers and the group tried to fish in the pond of world music, but that did not yield the desired success. And so Keane goes back to the success
… formula of Hopes And Fears with the fourth studio album. Helped by producer Dan Grech - who produced work by Lana del Rey and Radiohead, among others - the foursome comes up with this tasteful Strangeland. From the title opener You Are Young, you can hear that the old concept is being revisited. All twelve tracks are again supported by the piano chords of Tim Rice-Oxley. Keane is back to square one but in a positive way. (BvdV)more
