Here they are again, the guys from Tenacious D! After two albums full of parody rock, the duo, consisting of actors Jack Black and Kyle Gass, delivers another album that is filled to the brim with rock clichés. No vocal line, solo or production technique is sacred to Tenacious D. Theatrical rock bands like Judas Priest or Meat Loaf are particularly plagiarized, although they don't really need to
… be afraid of Rize Of The Fenix. The comedians ridicule themselves the most and their parodies are actually more like disguised declarations of love. The narrative songs are interspersed with radio plays, making Rize Of The Fenix just as much a concept album as the previous releases. In fact, everything has remained the same and unfortunately the childish sex jokes cannot be missed. Even the obligatory Uranus joke is still being mothballed. Black and Gass have studied all rock classics and have mastered the genre. In addition, they have proven in various films to act well and to be quite funny. The joke has only worn off after ten years. (JE)more
