Dylan Leblanc learned to play the guitar at the age of 7 and hasn't let go of the guitar since. The American may be in his early twenties with the release of Cast The Same Old Show (2012), but for his age he sounds particularly mature and lived. His second studio album sounds dreamy and is drenched in poetic lyrics full of melancholy. Partly due to the sober accompaniment, his unpredictable outbursts
… now and then look beautiful. Partly because of this, Cast The Same Old Show is reminiscent of Love Is Hell, a beautiful, sober album by singer / songwriter Ryan Adams. Where Adams occasionally adds a stirring song to his records, Leblanc strictly adheres to the heavy melancholic theme imposed by himself. And he does that with gusto, especially songs like Innocent Sinner, the beautiful Comfort Me and the atmospheric closing song Lonesome Waltz. Cast The Same Old Show has become a wonderful adult listening record that screams for more. Fortunately Leblanc is still young. We are far from getting rid of him. (BvdV)more
