Actually, everything was right about The Sex Pistols' first record. Just at the right time, four young English working-class gentlemen came with their rudimentary punk. The first few singles (Anarchy In The UK, God Save The Queen, Pretty Vacant, Holidays In The Sun) were reviled by one part of England and bought by another in 1976 and 1977. While The Sex Pistols lost out to punk bands like The Clash in terms of ingenuity, guitarist Steve Jones and drummer Paul Cook were quite skilled. The robust foundation they laid, worked perfectly with the striking lyrics of singer John Lydon. Their innovative clothing style and image did the rest. From the controversial social criticism to the effective artwork; there was no weak statement in between.
