In the period prior to this record, Moke's men roamed theaters with the theme Till Death Do Us Part. Little of those dark sounds and lyrics about death can be heard on the third studio album. Collider sounds lighter and more frivolous than the theater work and the previous record The Long & Dangerous Sea (2009). That is partly due to producer Gordon Groothedde, who was praised by lead singer
… Felix Maginn for his contribution to Collider. Moke is a bit like The Verve on opener Tears, but otherwise seems to be mainly inspired by the English band Keane. Moke went on tour with Tim Rice-Oxley and his buddies before and seems to have picked up a lot of their sound during that time. This can be heard especially well on the songs Opening Up, I've Got Silence You've Got Sound and Didn't Want My Love. For Moke standards it sometimes sounds a bit too slick, but all in all Collider has become a successful Britpop album again. (BvdV)more
