A new studio album by The Knife, that was about time after six years. You could almost say: The Knife is back. This resurrection is accompanied by the necessary extremities. Just take that cover: magenta! But Shaking The Habitual is much more than a garish cover. It is an extremely well thought out album. You can hear that Olof Dreijer has spent a lot of time creating sounds and rhythms. How they
… do it, they do it, but even the songs that last ten minutes are never boring. The sounds are incredibly extreme and follow each other in rapid succession, so that the listener is always taken by the throat. Because the variety of sound is so great, the vocals are sometimes a bit redundant. It does make the songs more like songs, but sister really had less work on this than her brother. Anyone thinking of a career as an electro producer should listen to Shakin The Habitual first. He will enjoy it, but also realize he has a long way to go. The Knife has set the bar high with this album. Extremely high. (HF)more
