They are young, intelligent, urban and very talented: 's men . Two of the four studied creative music and sound technology and that can be heard in this debut album: there is no shortage of production highlights. But musically it is also well put together. Rudimental knows how to make a seemingly impossible combination sound good. The young Britons mix cold, hedonistic drum & bass with hot,
… raw soul. It is a great achievement that they succeed in this. The two extreme emotions merge best in the song Feel The Love, in which takes care of the vocals. Starting with a simple organ, ending in a furious orgy of synths and electronic drums. John Newman is only 22, but sounds like someone who's been going through a very hard life for at least 50 years. It is a pity that Newman lent his voice to only two tracks; pretty much every song has a different vocalist. That is the only downside to this group: they don't have a permanent singer, so recognisability is hard to find. Sometimes it looks like a compilation album. If they ever decide to hire a lead singer, John Newman would be the absolute best choice. (HF)more
