Just a few months before the start of the nineties, Lenny Kravitz's single and lp Let Love Rule were released, seemingly out of nowhere. This singer, multi-instrumentalist, producer and songwriter of both African American and Russian descent would then dominate the 1990s with his mix of American stamp rock, soul and funk. His big break came in 1991 with the album Mama Said and the single Always On
… The Run. In 1993 his success only increased with the little deviating from Are You Gonna Go My Way. Again it was supported by a strong single, the steamy and rough title track that also opens the record. But after this the sultry atmosphere increases and Kravitz shows himself above all a ladies' man in gasping funk rock and intimate ballads with a dash of sixties pop here and there. This sophisticated, a bald but warmly produced CD was remastered twenty years later and provided with another one and a half CD full of extra tracks. (MR)more
