Hooverphonic wanted to go back to basics for his tenth album and went in search of an unpolished sound for Reflection. With that, the Belgians leave the orchestra with which the previous album With Orchestra was recorded this time. Instead, the band appealed to fans to make their homes available for the recording of the album. Ultimately, four houses in Belgium were found suitable, which not only
… led to a special sound, but also to remarkable scenes during the recording. There were days when the band members had to walk the dog because the residents were at work. Such experiences were not incorporated in the lyrics, but the raw, almost live sound that the living rooms bring with them makes Reflection a special album musically. The lyrics of songs like Bad Weather, Boomerang and Wait For A While are not high quality, but the trio never had to rely on that. The infectious, authentic sound makes Reflection more than worth listening to. (BvdV)more
