Jimmy Lafave released an impressive bootleg record with no less than 31 songs shortly before the turn of the century.Trail also housed a number of beautiful covers by Bob Dylan and Bruce Springsteen in addition to his own material. Fifteen years later, LaFave does the same trick, this time divided over two different albums: Trail Two (JK192945) and Trail Three. This third part once again features
… a number of covers by his aforementioned fellow musicians. Springsteen is honored with a bare version of Secret Garden and his homage to Dylan is again impressive. For example, the songs Love Minus Zero No Limit, Mr Tambourine Man and The Weight / Rainy Day Women # 12 & 35 are given a contemporary look. The quality of the original, LaFave never once knows how to match, but just like fifteen years ago, he has managed to retain the raw bootleg sound, making Trail Three a valuable addition to his oeuvre.
