Supergroups are usually super in name only. When giants of pop music start working together, it often does not yield much. The Canadian indie band The New Pornographers is different. They are a supergroup in the opposite direction. Meanwhile, members have , Dan Bejar (aka ) and leader successful solo careers, but their star only rose after The New Pornographers' debut in 2000 came out. Over the
… years it became increasingly difficult to get together, but in 2014 there is already the sixth album Brill Bruisers. Again a great record and also the happiest in the series. The thirteen songs are performed with a lot of energy, as if everyone is happy to be back on the old nest. Besides the usual influences of , and , the band now also throws a load of new wave through their music. Think of thundering synthesizers, a lot of reverb on the vocals and even a vocoder. After all the success outside of The New Pornographers, the company continues to evolve. A real supergroup. (JE)more
