Counting Crows are one of those rare groups that can afford to keep their fans waiting for an album for years. Somewhere Under Wonderland is released six years after Saturday Nights & Sunday Mornings (2008), but the Crows have not been forgotten in the Netherlands either: in 2014 the band is still in a full Heineken Music Hall. With Somewhere Under Wonderland, the group has an album in their
… pocket, with which they will not disappoint their many fans. In songs like Earthquake Driver and Dislocation Adam Duritz and his men sound driven and inspired. Fortunately, the sun regularly breaks through in Duritz's songs and he sings a lot less tormented than before. As usual, the group navigates between electric root rock songs and acoustic ballads. With this familiar sounding seventh album it therefore seems as if Counting Crows have never left. (PdK)more
