Shirma Rouse already had a decent track record as a backing singer (including with Wouter Hamel, Anouk and Candy Dulfer), but she only broke through with the general public when she appeared in The Voice Of Holland. The singer decided that she wanted to work out well with this album and that is why she started a crowdfunding campaign. The investment can definitely be heard on Shout It Out Loud.
French producer Phillippe Scemama has found a sound that fits Rouse like a warm winter coat. Thanks to Scemama's production and the live feel of her backing band, Shout It Out Loud sounds utterly soulful. Rouse showcases her enormous range in uptempo songs (Pick Yourself Up), ballads (Fool For Love), Motown-like popsoul (Can't Sleep) and even reggae (Watch Your Back).
