A good beat is often danceable. If you are unable to move around at dance or r & b, this music actually disappoints. Rhythm is also very important in hip hop. Rappers ask producers for beats that they can easily rap over. Hip-hop producer and film composer Adrian Younge does not break this golden rule, but wants to achieve more. He wants to make music that tells a story, just like film music
… does. His project Twelve Reasons To Die with rapper Ghostface Killah is actually a film without pictures. This CD contains the second part, the sequel film. Younge makes music reminiscent of the seventies, Ghostface Killah raps about that time. The story is set in New York and is about settlements in the criminal circuit. It is very clever that the instrumental pieces, which can be heard on a separate CD, are already very visual. And then Younge also plays everything itself: drums, keys, guitars and various wind instruments. You can nod your head on this hip-hop opera. But don't forget to follow the story. (JE)more
