It is striking how the discographies of the British neo-waveband Editors and the American counterpart continue to run in parallel. An overwhelming debut, followed by an even better second CD and a more experimental but less successful third. In the case of Editors, it was in 2009, with , where the guitars were exchanged for synthesizers. With the largely synth- and bloodless successor , things
… really go wrong in 2013 (just like three years earlier with Interpol's self- ). With album number five, Editors unfortunately again follows the bad example of released last year. In Dream dragged on like a wounded hippo for more than 50 minutes, with the swollen Salvation and the trip off Our Love as lows . Only on Ocean Of Night and Life Is A Fear does - despite the clichéd titles - something of the fire of the early years. One consolation: Live Editors will continue to draw from that period; they have no choice. (RME)more
