The British Squeeze is one of those bands that never stop, despite numerous line-up changes and long periods of rest. Squeeze was founded in 1974 by Chris Difford and Glenn Tilbrook, and they are the only ones who have stayed all along. From the long list of former band members, Jools Holland and Paul Carrack stand out, who later became famous as a solo artist (and Holland as a television presenter).
Released in 2015, Cradle To The Grave is Squeeze's first studio album in seventeen years, and is part of what has been called Squeeze's 'third incarnation' after a reunion in 2007. From a band that has been around since the 1970s, you don't have to. no hip or modern sound to be expected, and that's not how Cradle To The Grave sounds. Difford and Tilbrook, who wrote all the songs together, deliver craft songs in the best of British pop tradition. Everything sounds melodic and is well put together, without jumping out of the band. Nowhere on Cradle To The Grave will be exciting, but who is waiting for that? That Squeeze still makes music is special enough. (IV)more
