Ouch! Montage Of Heck is the in-depth documentary film released in 2015 about singer, guitarist and songwriter Kurt Cobain, who died in 1994. The frontman of Nirvana is put close to the skin, aided by gritty home videos and sound recordings from his personal cassette recorder. It gives a human and moving image of this troubled icon. By subsequently releasing those private cassette recordings on CD,
… this image is lost again. Like many songwriters, Cobain used his recorder to capture first ideas and not forget them. He apparently also liked to joke with it, for example by playing with the recording speed and making himself sound like a Smurf. Not intended for anyone other than the regretted musician himself. There is nothing genius or special about it. That can only be found on the three albums that he released with Nirvana during his lifetime. (MR)more
