Jett Rebel is a man on a mission. He says he wants to save the music. Rescue from all modern technology, from miming artists and the commercial industry. You can read it all in the booklet of Don't Die On Me Now, his second album of 2016. You can also hear it, because the Dutchman doesn't sound like any other mainstream artist. Together with his two companions Xander Vrienten (bass) and Kees Schaper
… (drums) he rattles away. His home studio is a lot more advanced than on his previous record , but digital technology is still prohibited. Everything is actually renounced after 1977, also musically. The trio mainly plays rock and roll, blues and soul. Dusty, dynamic and straight from the heart. Some songs are built very traditionally and therefore bleat on a bit. This is a natural consequence of Jett's penchant for the past. The originality stems from the idiosyncrasy of the recordings. Few artists who perform on the biggest Dutch stages sound so rough. Nice and old-fashioned, just the way Jett wants. (JE)more
