Every style of music has its clichés. For singer / songwriters these are: an emotional m / f who tries to give words to his / her turbulent inner world with a haunted voice. Also with Sean Rowe it storms dangerously behind his tough exterior. He himself calls this album 'a shot in the dark', the account of a dark period in his life that he says he would never have gotten out of without the help of
… good friends. The good thing about Rowe is that you recognize his voice out of thousands. It has a low hum, but one that can shoot unexpectedly into a falsetto. The arrangements on the album are grand and compelling, and emphasize Rowe's soul stirrings even more. In short, not an album that leaves you unmoved: it gets on your nerves or you hug this gloomy grumbling with love. (PdK)more
