Canadian band The Dears recorded Times Infinity back in 2014, but left the two-part album series on the shelves until 2017. The Montreal collective picks up on Vol 2 from where it left off without rigorously changing its course, making this second part connects seamlessly with part one. The sound of the Canadians fluctuates from subdued and gloomy to energetic and cheerful and back again. These
… contrasts, just like on Vol. 1 for a catchy album in which sometimes atmospheric songs with a slightly sad undertone are alternated with faster and heavy rock songs. In addition to the regular band members who provide the vocals, drums, guitars and keyboards, Times Infinity also featured additional musicians on violin, viola, cello and French horn. Part two is not innovative, but does make Times Infinity as a whole into a very beautiful diptych. This album is certainly worthwhile as well. (JvQ)more
