Raskit

British Dizzee Rascal returns to his musical roots on his sixth album Raskit. Dizzee slid between debut album (2003) and Raskit from grime to a more commercial sound and back again. That was with varying degrees of success. The rapper is co-producer on Raskit and there are no guest appearances on the album. The children's photo of Dizzee on the cover seems to confirm that this is a kind of comeback. Grime, the style in which he is considered a pioneer, is the focus. Yet it is clear that the rapper is still a strong party act, although there is more room for creativity on Raskit than on his previous two albums. That turns into an hour of virtuoso raps, clanging beats and thumping basses. Dizzee never really left, but with Raskit it is completely back in place. (JvQ)more
