Trent Reznor and associates will release another EP after Not The Actual Events (2016). Add Violence again contains a number of oppressive, but beautiful songs on which the band combines its industrial sound with rustling backgrounds and beautiful piano playing. With less than half an hour and only five songs, the Cleveland band manages to create a middle ground between creeping slow burners and
… powerful outbursts. Those contrasts are characteristic of the band and are also clearly present on this EP. The almost twelve-minute final piece with an unprecedented build-up of tension creates a somewhat contradictory ending. On the one hand, you want to escape the oppressive sound, but Reznor and his band really don't give the listener a chance. The EP fades out in a dormant fashion. (JvQ)more
