If anyone knows how important her image is, it's Taylor Swift. The American singer grew up in front of the world. The teenage star has now turned into an adult artist and smart businesswoman. As befits a world star, the country singer of yesteryear has changed style several times. On her seventh album Reputation she puts a lot of effort into the deep basses and vocoders of the electropop. She combines
… dark music with a somewhat obtrusive image. Sideways it is also about people who give a false image of themselves and each other via (social) media. In the preface to the CD, Swift writes quite a treatise on the theme. All well and good, but of course we mainly knock on her door for the hits. There are plenty of them on Reputation: Look What You've Made Me Do, Gorgeous, New Year's Day. There are voices here and there that Swift is getting less popular, but those are just haters. The only thing you can blame the singer is that 55 blasting minutes of busy pop music is a bit too much. (JE)more
