The dreampop of the American duo turns darker than ever on their seventh album - with the appropriate title 7 -. With shoegaze influences, Victoria Legrand and Alex Scally now seem to be heading in a different direction. That does not mean that there is nothing more to dream about, because the songs of the two are still to lose yourself in. Whether it concerns echoing melodies, lyrics sung in French
… conjuringly or unexpected switches to stinging guitar riffs, the duo knows how to enchant song after song. On previous albums there was also a dark edge to the music of Legrand and Scally here and there, but on 7 there is even more volume and heaviness added to their sound. 7 is therefore the darkest, but also the most varied album that the two have made so far in their career.
