On her fourth album, Swedish Lykke Li takes a different approach and yet not. As on previous albums, the singer takes the form of the ice queen. So Sad So Sexy contains a contradiction. The singer gave birth to a child and lost her mother. So the singer decided to process her divergent feelings on her new album. In terms of music she is shifting towards r & b and hip hop. This results in a more
… danceable album. Emotionally, it stays cool and with a well-dosed portion of sadness. This contrast offers an interesting basis, but does not prevent the artist from repeating sometimes. The beats and basses give the album a somewhat mechanical character. At times, this displaces the singer's heartache. At her best, Li is still haunting when she sings of her sorrow, but her style experiment does not come out well on this fourth album. (JvQ)more
