In addition to and , brothers Paul and Phil Hartnoll were big names in the British electronic dance scene in the 1990s. After breaking up in 2004, they made a strong comeback with in 2012. In 2014 they split up again. Fortunately, the brothers made up again. The urge to share their artistic vision with the world led to Monsters Exist, a record that harks back to the great sound of their early
… days and hints a political message within it. PHUK (Please Help The UK) seems to come straight from the nineties and storms over you like an elephant - wonderful. These big beats also return elsewhere on the CD and provide the strongest songs. Elsewhere, the brothers are out of control. For example, the hyperactive and overly fun Hoo Hoo Ha Ha is a nervous collage of chirping bells. And the last issue, spoken by physicist / professor Brian Cox, is a rather stale plea for raising awareness about the impermanence of life. So there are a number of monsters on this otherwise enjoyable album. (JvQ)more
