This self-titled album includes the first two EPs plus six new tracks by American r & b singer Gabriella “Gabi” Wilson. The album earned her two Grammys, for best r & b performance and best r & b album. The production is characterized by a subdued pace, which fits the mysterious image of the artist. That image is a symbol of her closed personality, which Wilson was extra self-aware
… of while writing the songs of this album. Through this music Wilson tries to open up where she normally finds it difficult. She does not focus on the charts, but goes for emotion in songs in which her beautiful voice is framed by a fairly minimal, but rich and warm production. Due to the predominantly slow tempo, this album with 21 songs is quite a long session. (JvQ)more
