… ride, with eruptions elsewhere too. In these moments the theatrical Palmer emerges. Her piano playing and the ukulele predominate, in songs in which she sometimes shifts towards a symphonic sound. Making this album had a therapeutic effect for her. She lost loved ones around her and used music to push herself away. The songs therefore sound penetrating. They cover topics such as abortion, miscarriages, illness and grief. That dark layer has been delicately incorporated. A heavy but beautiful album. (JvQ)more
