On his albums for this he constantly explores the boundaries between techno and noise, in which hardly any musical laws seem to apply. How different is that on Kiri Variations that Clark released on his own label . On this he explores neo-classical in a number of semi-electronic atmospheric pieces.
Ill-pregnant strings dominate against sets of unwieldy downtempo beats, ambient effects and abstract piano playing. Also beautiful is the wordless choir singing that appears in some pieces. Music that is sometimes reminiscent of the icy soundtracks of . Kiri Variations therefore deserves its own film, a dark and sinister British thriller. (MR)more
