With a body that seems to be carved from marble, American singer-songwriter Noah Gunderson is featured on the front, back and inside of his fourth album Lover. Perhaps because - just like on previous albums - he really wants to reveal himself. Lover is again a very personal record from the artist. The sound has mainly remained sparse on Lover. The rippling electronic sound in combination with an
… autotune voice is sometimes reminiscent of , while another song has the dark touch of 's albums and to have. It is admirable that Gundersen - despite the sometimes melodramatic lyrics - does not use the same keg as his fellow singer-songwriters. Especially the cold electronics work well and form a nice contrast with his candid lyrics in terms of detachment. Some songs are very slow and therefore get the momentum out of the already quite slow album. (JvQ)more
