After
Kingdom of Rest (2009) the members of Doves went their own way. In 2018 the band announced their reunion with a performance at the Royal Albert Hall, after which they started working on a new album. After not recording together for so long, this return proved to bring the necessary focus and energy. The band members wanted to turn their individual fears, uncertainties and experiences into a
… 'universal virtue' that resounds in their music. The group did not opt for a new angle, but strongly embraced the recognizable sound with which they became known: Britpop with compelling melodies and wide soundscapes. By letting go of expectations, the band sounds self-assured and can play its trump cards cleverly. (JvQ)more
