The album project
Greendale was received in 2003 as a revival in the rapidly changing oeuvre of the Canadian-American bard Neil Young. It included a multi-medial project about the fictional Californian town of Greendale. Not unimportant was that for
the album he had called his old accompanying band Crazy Horse again. With this band Young can rock and let himself go as a solo guitarist. Return To
… Greendale includes live recordings of the tour that followed and was recorded in Toronto on September 4, 2003. We hear, as expected, a heavy playing Neil Young & Crazy Horse while they perform Greendale intergraal. What's special is the addition of the female band The Mountainettes, which give their own colour to the sultry men's rock. Nice that seventeen years later we can still enjoy this dazzling concert.
