With
Echo (2016) and successor
2 (2018), Ghent band Bazart managed to establish themselves with their distinctive lithe mix of pop and R&B, gaining a lot of popularity in Belgium and beyond. On their third album, the group is carefully 'on the road' to a new slant in their sound. This time they move a little more in the direction of pop music and add synthesizers to the mix. But the cool character
… of the music remains, which is again reinforced by the soothing vocals of frontman Mathieu Terry. Just like on 2, Bazart remains very much in their comfort zone, so there are no real wow-moments on Onderweg. Fans of the first hour will not fall for it. However, if you're looking for excitement as a listener, Bazart is not the right place for you. (JvQ)more
