Exile In Guyville (1993). The fact that she signed with major label
Capitol in 2003 and switched to more streamlined indie pop wasn't appreciated and more or less meant the end of her heydays. The ironically
… titled Soberish is her first album since 2010. Once again she has worked with Brad Wood, the producer who played an important role on Exile In Guyville. The adolescent outspokenness of that album is, of course, far behind Phair and she doesn't try hard to find it again (thankfully). Soberish is an album full of mature, melodic indie pop that still has just enough eloquence to be relevant. (MR)more
