It seems that The Teskey Brothers are more at home on stage than in the studio. After two successful studio albums, Live At Hamer Hall is the second live CD they have released in a two-year period. Unlike predecessor
Live At The Forum, the five-piece band is not alone in the spotlight, but is joined by the 40-plus members of Orchestra Victoria who enrich their songs with wind and string arrangements.
After listening to the five-piece's studio albums, it quickly became apparent that they are greatly inspired by Otis Redding and presumably the vocal prowess of Aaron Neville is not unfamiliar to them either. With the live performance of Say You'll Do, we can add the slower work of James Brown to this as well, as the arrangement seems to be taken verbatim from his It's a Man's Man's World. The rest of the arrangements are also very pleasant additions to the repertoire of the Australian brothers. Subtle, yet adequate. (AD)more
