… the sometimes traditional-sounding Turkish melodies dominate, but all sorts of things happen around them. Like the alienating distorted chorus, the retro drum machine and the buzzing bass line in Biz Ne Zaman Düsman Olduk. Su Akyol has a tremendously expressive voice that can suck you into her music even if you don't speak Turkish. This allows her to make her music sound menacing or exuberant with equal ease. (JV)more
