The band Kong emerged from the artistic Amsterdam music scene of the 1980s. The quartet, made up mostly of former members of
Slauerhoff, stood out mainly for playing their roaring avant-garde rock live with each band member in a corner of the room, as a kind of natural quadraphonic effect. Those wild years are over, but bassist Mark Drillich founded a new lineup of Kong in 2007. Traders Of Truth
… shows that they still love volume and frenzy. The riffs are mostly rooted in metal, but then find a way into drawn-out industrial passages with distorted voice samples as the only vocals. In the process, Kong manages to create a tension that unloads relentlessly at times. (MR)more
