Summer Walker gives us a mega mellow album with Clear: The Series. It is a compilation of Clear 2: Soft Life, combined with the 2019 ep Clear from young talent Summer Walker. The newly 27-year-old American R&B singer released her first album Last Day Of Summer in 2018 and has since collaborated with artists such as
Khalid and
Justin Bieber. Summer is characterized by her calm, sultry and soulful
… voice and intimate lyrics. This latest album features a palette of emotions and calm mellow atmospheres. Walker creatively interprets her feelings and love experiences. She is critical of her role in relationships and uses this album as self-reflection. In the closing track Agayu's Revelation, Walker speaks out about this while talking. This captures the mood of the entire album and shows how honest Summer is and how vulnerable she puts herself out there. Even though you sense that this is a nice and quiet R&B album, it also feels like one that is not exciting or surprising. You fly through the album just a little too quickly without really being caught. Nevertheless, a pleasant sound from Summer Walker. (LdS)more
