After an absence of no less than seven years, British band Mumford & Sons comes with a follow-up to their album
Delta (2018). At the time, banjo player Winston Mashall left the band, thus the group now operates as a trio. But rest assured, the banjo is present again on this album. Where Delta was a semi-successful attempt to continue as a stadium act, the group around
Marcus Mumford maneuvers back
… toward their folk roots on this album. Despite that return, the band still deploys rousing choruses that can be sung along by a large crowd. Thus, the criticism of their previous album, that the songs mostly follow the same structure, also applies to RUSHMERE. The cautious addition of elements from blues and rock 'n' roll is nice, but does not hide the fact that the group is repeating itself. For fans of the band, RUSHMERE will be a feast of recognition.
