American band Counting Crows was a big name in the 1990s and early 2000s. Since they scored a hit with Holiday In Spain with Zeeland's
Bløf, the band has also won a special place in the Netherlands. In recent years, the band around singer Adam Duritz decided to slow down, but never completely disappeared from sight. With Butter Miracle: The Complete Sweets, the Americans seem to be back at full
… strength. Familiar-sounding pop songs, sometimes with a more solid character, sometimes in the form of a piano ballad. Duritz's voice is still recognizable out of thousands. The songs have an obvious feel-good character and a high back-to-the-nineties content, but never become superficial. Few bands live up to that. (JV)more
