Dutch Inge Lamboo became known for releasing covers on TikTok and Youtube and released her debut album Black Heart in 2023. Her second album shows a further development in her sound, which is a mix of pop, (alt)rock and a touch of folk and Americana. Her recognizable pinching voice puts extra emotion into the songs, which deal with themes of identity, authenticity in a digital world and the future.
Lamboo alternates compelling songs with rousing strings with more intimate work. After her debut, she was able to count Pete Townshend of The Who among one of her fans, and he was therefore eager to collaborate with her on this album as well. The song Call Out Your Name is the result of that, in which Townshend's hypnotic guitar lines stand out. This Is How the Future is a wonderful record with which Lamboo anchors her position in the Dutch pop landscape. (JvQ)more
