With I've Been Expecting You, ex-Take That singer Robbie Williams exceeds my expectations. Nothing reminds of Take That 's sweet songs anymore. That was already the case with his debut album Life Thru A Lens and I've Been Expecting You is another step forward in quality. He did, however, make some concessions. This CD is much more of a pop record than its predecessor. While that CD contained quite
… a few songs with a high rock content, the success of the single Angels will have contributed to this slight change of direction. I've Been Expecting You is a strong and convincing record filled with more pleasant pop music strongly influenced by the music of the 60s and 70s. Hit-sensitive songs are next to the single Millenium; Strong, Phoenix From The Flames, Heaven From Here and the Lennon-esque She's The One. Those who have a little patience will also find a so-called 'ghost track' on the CD. After the last song These Dreams you have to wait almost 22 minutes or fast-forward for an untitled encore.
